Where the CRM usually stops

Ask most teams where their CRM ends and they will describe the same edge: enquiry, qualification, proposal, negotiation, deal won. After that the record goes quiet. The work does not.

The gap after “deal won”

For an events company the sale is the easy part — the delegates still have to register, pay, and check in. For a service business the work order, the technician schedule, the parts, and the SLA all start after the quote is accepted. Procurement and manufacturing teams live almost entirely in that post-sale space: RFQs, supplier comparisons, BOMs, production orders, dispatch.

When that work happens in spreadsheets and separate tools, three things go wrong:

  • History fragments. The next person to touch the account cannot see what was promised, delivered, or disputed.
  • Follow-ups slip. Unpaid registrations, stalled work orders, and overdue approvals depend on someone remembering to look.
  • Margin leaks quietly. A part shortage discovered on site, a supplier quote that was never compared — small misses that only show up in the month-end numbers.

One record, through delivery

The fix is not another dashboard. It is keeping the operational work on the same customer record as the sale: work orders, projects, purchase requests, inventory, invoicing — each visible from the account, each carrying its own history.

That is also what makes automation and AI agents useful rather than decorative. An agent that can see the work order, the parts list, and the SLA can draft the purchase request before the van leaves. An agent looking at a spreadsheet cannot.

Where to start

You do not need to move everything at once. Start with the one hand-off that costs your team the most time today — intake, dispatch, payment follow-up, supplier sourcing — and put that on the shared record first. The rest follows the same pattern.
